ayoo, itâs breezy here, i live in the cst, iâm eighteen (nineteen as of tomorrow â the 6th). this is my boy saint carmichael, heâs twenty and a child care worker, like kidâs are his passion and he just has this click with them.Â
Saint Carmichael, a boy that wanted to do his best to please everyone â specifically his father â and had a heart of gold. It started in middle school, his father wanted him to pick up wrestling. Being the obedient son that he was, he did it, even if that wasnât his passion. His father allowed him to join choir, no matter how much he was against it. Over the next two years he would forbid Saint from ever doing something musically wise. Naive 15-year-old Saint didnât protest, but simply nod his head and cry into his pillow that night. Saint hoped that highschool would help him become more independent, better himself, and hopefully help him stand for himself when it came to his dreams with his Dad. Oh, it helped with that problem, but added on many more. He didnât stop wrestling until sophmore year, somewhat forced to stop because of an injury. He then used the opportunity to finally put his foot down about his musical passion. Heâd never think he and his father would take the turn they did in their relationship.Â
His father became bitter with him, simply becoming smug whenever he would see Saint come home, evidence of a fight at school on his face. After quitting wrestling, many male peers sought out to annoy Saint. Saint seemed vulnerable to them because of the injury, and he became so depressed about he and his fatherâs dynamics, heâd let people say whatever and a shrug with a âI donât careâ following. Itâd take someone crossing the line to get Saint to punch them in the face. Many played on Saintâs easy temperament, school becoming a battleground daily.Â
There was a girl, Saint thought theyâd be highschool sweethearts, daydreaming of a future with her. But, a year later (his junior year), what did she do? Fuck him over, making him swear off love. A few months later, there was a new kid that Saint couldnât keep his eyes off of. Saint knew heâd be a different one after giving the boy a school tour. âI heard you fought a lot, have a pretty bad. reputation..â âTrust me itâs not like i want toâŠIâm pretty convinced the universe hates meâŠ.â Saint could already guess the boy was going to make up his mind to avoid him, but he was surprised when he heard, âDonât worry, I donâtâŠCome on, letâs sit together at lunch.â Yeah, he was a keeper. Saintâs home life got worse though in Senior year, making him bitter and even more angry due to frustration with the situation.Â
Saint purposefully faded apart in the relationship because that was one thing he couldnât stand to see ruined, âWhat do you mean you want to âtake a breakâ after graduating, Saint? For fucks sake, we even agreed to go to the same college and you do this?â Saint leaned against his car, a heavy sigh accompanying a hand rubbing against his face, âI know what we fucking said, but I donât think itâll be good for us to continue on. Like, go find someone else, someone better than me.â âItâs not that easy SaintâŠâ âJesus, I donât give a fuck how it is, this just gotta end, I canât.â And with that being said, Saint left, no explanation of the sudden action given, no sign of someone he could say had his heart afterwards or after graduation.Â
Saint eventually started playing emotional games with people, reeling them in with promises and poetic words that later meant nothing once they gave it up. Theyâd expect another date being planned but to only have their calls rejected and texts unanswered until they eventually forgot about Saint. Saint came to Acadia to get on the right path for a music career, but he canât help but get pulled into drama.

Fifty Shades Darker: A Soundtrack Review
Quick Summary if you arenât bothered to read all of this: Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, listen to âNo Running from Meâ, âThe Scientistâ, and I guess listen to âOne Woman Manâ if you have time.  But if you arenât bothered click on it, it really wouldnât be the end of the world.
Letâs all just be honest, if youâre like me, then you believe that the whole debacle that was the Fifty Shades of Grey film had one lone saving grace: itsâ soundtrack.
I fell absolutely in LOVE with that soundtrack. (minus the one unintelligible Sia song on it) I mean, it created a passionate, burning love in me for the Weeknd, which drove me into the waiting arms of âBeauty Behind the Madnessâ. Â That was an amazing album. (Shame about âStarboyâ, but Iâm not bitching about that right now. Â Stop going off in a tangent, bad Becks) Â So yes. Â FSOG: Film? Not my thing. Â Soundtrack? Very, very much my thing.
So, my love for THAT soundtrack resulted in me being extremely excited for the follow up. Â The sequel, if you will, to what I believe may have been the best album of 2015. Â Or at least, I believe it was now as not one other album that was released that year comes to mind.
(Minor tangent: I just googled it, and honestly? Not many good albums came out that year. Â Sad year for music, then. Tangent over.)
So, yes, sorry, the sequel soundtrack. Â The Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. Â Like anything youâve ever built yourself up too much for, it was a disappointment.
Donât get me wrong: I think it was great for the film.  Full of cringey lines, and the overall sound was fairly cliche and tune-outtable.  (I know thatâs not a word, but I think you get my drift? Hope so, anyway.  Moving on- ) So, I think it's good for what itâs supposed to be - just extremely disappointing considering what itâs following.  I personally wouldnât recommend just sitting down and listening to the whole thing through, like I did.  But I would recommend skipping through and listening to a few of the songs - in particular Nick Jonas + Nicki Minajâs âBom Didi Bomâ, John Legendâs âOne Woman Manâ (If you the embarrassing, over-the-top, trademark lovey-dovey John Legendness of it), and would DEFINITELY suggest you give Toulouse âNo Running from Meâ a go.  Yeah, I love that one.  It just has a great feel, seriously, itâs the highlight of the soundtrack for me.
Riiiiiiight, so, now itâs time for the more in-depth analysis. Â Basically what Iâve done is Iâve broken the whole thing down into four categories:Â
1. Yup, I like it, I feel the sexiness, âtis good.Â
Right, so first up, the two Danny Elfman songs.  I like them, theyâre nice.  I really get a Carter Burwell Twilight-style vibe from âOn his Kneesâ which is cute, (Donât be confused by my describing a song called âOn his Kneesâ as cute, the title DOES NOT match what youâre listening to at all) but âMaking it Realâ is definitely my favourite of the two. (even if itâs slightly reminiscent of that music that people play when youâre put on hold by phone-business people)  So, both cutesy, but let-downs seen as theyâre written by DANNY FRIGGING ELFMAN!
Next, âThe Scientistâ.  Franchement, I debated putting this on number two, but in the end I figured if Elfmanâs songs made it to number one, then Connie Bailey Rae gets up here too.  I actually like Coldplay - please donât click away - and this is one of my fave songs by them.  And her cover is good, not as good as the original in my opinion even if she has a better voice then Chris Martin, but good.  So Connie gets up on the good list.
âPrayâ makes it up here too. Â I kinda tune out most of the lyrics, but itâs fun enough to listen to with headphones and when itâs a bit too loud.Â
JosĂ© James âIâve Got You Under My Skinâ.  Sweet cover, very similar to the original, woudnât necessarily go seeking it out, but itâs nice.  Same goes for âThey Canât Take That Away from Meâ, but I think he does a better job of âIâve Got YOu Under my Skinâ, personally.
Nicki obvo makes it to the top. Â Gotta love me some Nicki Minaj, even if itâs shoved with Nick Jonas, and tbh he isnât too bad in this one. Â I give it 3.5 stars. Which, considering the rest of the soundtrack, is pretty good.
The penultimate song Iâm putting in this category is my personal favourite from the whole soundtrack, âNo Running from Meâ by Toulouse.  I literally donât even know why.  Itâs just got an amazing, sultry feel to it.  I love the lead guys voice, itâs just great, and jazzy, and smooth, and just ugh.  It makes me feel good to listen to it.  Definite favourite song from this soundtrack, hands down.
John Legend ends the coveted (lol) top category by the skin of his teeth. Â Some of his more-cringey lines nearly cost him a place. Â But in the end, it IS the soundtrack for a rom film released on Valentineâs Day of all days, so he gets a bit of leeway and makes it to the top.Â
2. I can stomach it, not too bad. Â Kinda cliche, and I forgot what it sounded like instantly, but not too bad.
Halsey is here with âNot Afraid Anymoreâ.  I like Halsey, âNew Americanaâ and âCastleâ are my jam.  She let me down with this, not gonna lie.  Itâs not BAD per se, just not what Iâd expect from her.  Very sad.
Tove Lo âLies in the Darkâ, The-Dream âCode Blueâ, Joseph Angel âEmpty Pack of Cigarettesâ, The Avener âI Need a Good Oneâ, and Rita Ora âKiss Meâ.  All forgettable.  So much so that I force them to share one paragraph of description, because I canât remember anything about them to expand anymore.  So thatâs them.
Little Charlie and the Nightcats â Living Hand to Mouthâ.  I mean, itâs okay, but nothing to write home about.  Generic, really, for itâs style, but easy to listen to.
JP Cooper âBirthdayâ is here.  It has a promising start, I wonât tell a lie, but the hell are those appalling lyrics????? I wasnât able to tune them out.  Narrowly, narrowly missed category three.  Still not 100% it shouldnât be there if Iâm being totally honest.
There just isnât enough accompanying music to distract from the beyond embarrassing lyrics in âWhat Would it Takeâ by Anderson East.  Itâs playing right now in the background, and I am physically restraining myself from turning away.  Itâs awful, but not so awful that - no, no you know what? I canât.  Itâs category three now.
3. Ah Lord, too much, I feel nauseous. Â SKIP!
The Sia song. Â âHeliumâ. Â It is vomit-inducing. Â I really, really, hate it. Â âEven Superwoman sometimes needed Supermanâs Soulâ WHAT??? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??? WHAT??? Ah well. Â At least I could actually understand the words that came out of her mouth this time round. Â Sorry Sia. If it helps, I liked Chandelier?
âCruiseâ by Kygo.  I mean, I was gonna put it in the second tier cause itâs poppy and kinda annoying, but pretty meh overall, but then I got to the way he said âCruuuuuuuiseâ and that annoyed the shit out of me.  Then the lack bass drop after he said it a few times was frustrating as hell, âcause the song is so generic and cliche I was EXPECTING it, and felt cheated when it didnât deliver.  It actually made me feel something in my stomach it was so frustratingly disappointing, and so, it got pushed into the âSo bad I felt physically affectedâ category.
Frances âWhat is Loveâ.  Initially was gonna go in category two, okay, but forgetful.  Then I recognised the song and NO.  Just NO.  This? This is BUTCHERY! Of a CLASSIC! I frankly found it offensive.  No.  Move on.
Anderson East âWhat Would it Takeâ - see above.
4. THIS SHIT WAS STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR THE REST OF THE DAY FFS PLEASE MAKE IT GO AWAY WHY CANâT I STOP LISTENING TO IT ON A LOOP?????? Aka, the Taylor Swift Category.
The one Taylor Swift song on the soundtrack. Â If you can, save yourself from becoming addicted by burying yourself in a hole, and avoiding any and every form of media. Â If you donât, it will find you. Â And it will burn itself into your brain.
